Jed Weaver was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh round (208th overall) of the 1999 NFL Draft. As a rookie in 2000, Weaver was named to Pro Football Weekly’s all-rookie team after starting 10 of 16 games for the Philadelphia Eagles. Weaver was Waived by the Eagles and claimed off of waivers by the Miami Dolphins the next day. In Weaver's first five seasons in the NFL, he did not miss a game, playing in all 80 contests. Weaver had the best season of his career in 2003, as a member of the Dolphins catching a career-high 35 passes and gaining a career-high 437 yards. Two of Weaver’s best games have come against the Patriots. He caught his first career touchdown against New England as a member of the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 7, 2001. He also made a career-high five receptions against the Patriots at Foxboro Stadium on Dec. 24, 2000.
